About me

This is me, in China (Summer Palace, Beijing) during the IAU general reunion in 2012.

My name is Mireia /Mee-ray-yah/ Montes Quiles (name and two surnames). I come from Barcelona, Spain. There, I earned my bachelor in Physics (I did most of the optional classes in Astronomy), and also a Master’s degree in Astrophysics. Then, I went to Tenerife, Canary Islands, to do a PhD in Astronomy.  I was a Yalie for almost three years and now, I am a Research Associate at the University of New South Wales (Sydney).

My passions are: dancing, singing, writing, yoga, cats, chocolate, music… Although not proficient, I use GIMP to edit images and create from logos (like the HDUV logo!) to posters and postcards for my friends as birthday/thesis defense gifts.
